More family moving adventures...

~The family.  We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together. ~ Erma Bombeck

It has been quite an interesting few days, of unpacking, chaos, bad tempers and lots of laughs...well and tears...if you had any idea how our personal belongings were packed you would truly appreciate the tears, but that is another story....I think Erma Bombeck had it right in her little quote given above...

Our little family, which consists of myself (The Heart, at least that is what I like to think), my darling husband Chad (often The Mediator of the family), 15-year-old Benjamin (The Gamer;)), 18-year-old Lauren (Sarcasm Queen), 20-year-old Rebekah (The Marine's Wife), and Hannahbear (The Granddaughter who is the Apple of our Eye)....have now experienced our, I believe 15th move of our family's existence.  Does it ever get any easier?? Uh nooooo! Okay maybe Lauren got her sarcasm from her mama;) After much angst and parental soothing of egos we have managed yet again to situate ourselves into a comfortable living arrangement (so we had to go out on a whim and buy the girls a full size mattress to share, but you do what ya gotta do to keep the peace)...

Last night Chad and I had a delightful time together arranging our little formal living room... It turned out quite lovely if I say so myself. It was only fitting that we finish this room first, seeing that we have now had four people show up unexpectedly to greet us to the neighborhood and had no where presentable  to invite them to sit. So here are a few pics of our little formal living room...we were going for the Sea Captain's Parlor...I think it looks charming, but could use a pretty plant or two to finish it off. I think we shall have many blissful gatherings in this little area:-)

Just a quick note...the beautiful Indian Kashmir rug was a gift from my dear husband from his military exploits to the Middle East... Although he brought me back many beautiful gifts from his 10 month unaccompanied tour I am most pleased to have him back with us:-)

  1. WOW! Totally beautiful Jennifer and Chad!!! Jenn...you really are an amazing designer!! I have a question. Did you purchase new furnishings for this room? We have moved 3 times in 4 years...and I keep making the mistake of buying furniture to fit where we live...then when we move...it just does not work. Help!!! Maybe I need to sell furniture again (already sold a bedroom set because it would not fit after we moved and also sold a full size bed (we downsized to 1 bedroom ...temporarily) Love love love the decor!!!
