The Belly Dance

Dance of Ecstasy

Body in motion
Transcends time.
This wild woman syndrome
Takes hold
And sheds away
Pious parameters.
Sanctimoniousness
Falls down
Around my swaying figure
Like the shedding
Of snake skin.
I shake it off with
Gyrating hips
And quivering breasts.
Jangling of golden coin
At waist, vibrates
To the frequency
Of the Universe.
Spirit recognizes
The uncivilized call
Of the feminine.
Unconscious prakriti,
The primal force
Comes out
To play.
Animating its unrefined,
Yet refined drama
Through my spine,
Awakening
What lay dormant
At the base.
The dance
Of ecstasy
Begins.

About a month ago I took up belly dancing. I have always loved to dance and have enjoyed watching other women belly dance...It is quite mesmerizing. So I decided I would give it a try. I started with the Goddess Belly Dance workout by Dolphina (you can find her via google). I do it every day for 50 minutes. It is an amazing cardio workout, and I have also been using her Introduction to Belly Dance dvd, which has helped me immensely in learning  the various moves. I cannot express enough how incredibly liberating belly dancing makes me feel. I feel more empowered as a woman, and sexier too! Since starting, the dance has inspired my muse in poetry. It is hard to express how I feel while dancing...poetry is my chosen way of expressing something I feel deeply about in my soul. Dancing is just another way that the human spirit expresses itself in nature. It is a way that every woman can connect with her shakti...Dancing makes me feel like a Goddess!

Tribute to Earth Day

Walk Naked

Walk naked
And feel the feathery
Green fingers
Of fresh Spring grass
Tickling between bare toes,
Hypersensitive from
The suffocation of
The culture of shoes
For too long.
Let them just breathe.
Reacquaint the
Unclad foot with
Mother Earth
Again.

Walk naked
In endless fields of
Lavender dreams.
Let the scent
Intoxicate, as the
Senses remember
What they'd
Forgotten.
Lie in copious pastures,
Burgeoning with
Nature's generosity.
Her efflorescence
Yearns to cradle
Soft, exposed flesh
Against her
Earthy breast.
Listen to
Her whispers
And come
Home.

Alphabet Mantra

Alphabet Mantra

Like the all in the oneness,
Like the branch and the vine
Like the call and the answer
Like the drink and the wine

Like the earth and the heavens
Like the forest and trees
Like the gate and the pathway
Like the hawk and the breeze
Like the iris and petals
Like the jewel and the mine
Like the known and the knowing
Like the laugh and the line

Like moonlight and darkness
Like nowhere and near
Like the oak and the acorn
Like pain and the tear
Like the quest and the seeker
Like rain and the flower
Like the sea and the islands
Like time and the hour

Like union and yearning
Like the vision and view
Like waves and the water
So I am to you.

So I am to you, Love
And you are to me
We dwell in each other
Like salt in the sea.

O alleluia, o alleluia
O alleluia, o alleluia.

An old friend made this video a while back and I listen to it now and again...It is a beautiful song and the imagery just adds to the beauty. We are all interconnected. Isn't that amazing to ponder?....Enjoy!

Soul Awakened

Soul Awakened

I am asleep, my mind dormant
No kindling for spark
Wandering about
In lackadaisical slumber

I chance a walk in nature
The cure all for monotony
I hear a quaint melody
A Robin's resplendent call?

My step quickens, mind rouses
A crisp feel in the air,
Revitalizing my constitution
Dulled senses heighten

And as my soul begins to stir
Like a thousand tiny petals
Caressing me from the inside,
I am awakened!

A little birdie told me.....

A Bird's Eye View......

That's for the Birds.....

Oh those little feathered darlings who come and visit me each day in my garden of wonders.... They love to shower me with their songs of delight.... they know they are beautiful...no one need tell them...it just is...

Nature's Goodness....

~You can't be suspicious of a tree, or accuse a bird or a squirrel of subversion or challenge the ideology of a violet.~
Hal Borland

~Look at the trees, look at the birds, look at the clouds, look at the stars... and if you have eyes you will be able to see that the whole existence is joyful.  Everything is simply happy.  Trees are happy for no reason; they are not going to become prime ministers or presidents and they are not going to become rich and they will never have any bank balance.  Look at the flowers - for no reason.  It is simply unbelievable how happy flowers are.~
Osho

A wondrous morning....

This morning I took my lap top and my coffee out to the back patio to sit and enjoy some delightful sunshine and deliciously cool breezes. The temperature could not have been more perfect...I ended up sitting out there for three hours just soaking it all up as I browsed the internet, took photos and just lay back and enjoyed the feel of the breezes touching my skin...I put on some violin concertos and to my complete astonishment the birds up in the trees began to chirp extra loudly as if they had caught the spirit of the melody and were adding melodies of their own. It just thrilled me to my fingertips to witness this little wonder....I have no doubt that Mother Nature herself made me privy to this little miracle....

I was able to catch a few of my new feathered friends amongst the trees....

I can guarantee that this is where I will be spending most mornings from here on out...It does my soul good to connect with the Great Mother and feel the energies of life flowing all around me...and maybe I will be so fortunate to be visited by her messengers of harmony once again ;)

Diamond Head....

My family and I hiked the beautiful Diamond Head on Oahu this weekend (please google if you wish to know more of this incredible natural wonder) It was quite a challenge to accomplish...but after much huffing and puffing and many many stairs I made it to the top and was it ever worth it!!!

Here are a few lovely photos looking down from the top...they cannot even do justice to the magnificent scene before me....it was truly breathtaking and rather humbling....Awwwww the Wonders of Nature!

This very interesting flora called Lion's Main was to be found everywhere in the region! I had not seen this plant in any other area I have been to thus far on the island. It was quite lovely against the green of mountain side....I look forward to exploring many more of the natural wonderments of the Hawaiian Islands:-)

Mother Nature speaks...

~Such is the audacity of man, that he hath learned to counterfeit Nature, yea, and is so bold as to challenge her in her work.~
 Pliny the Elder

~I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority.~
